Key Areas of Focus:
Passing – many clubs in the area focus solely on individual skills, so much so that the most critical aspect of soccer is often overlooked and underdeveloped. This missing link is the art of team play. Our philosophy is that winning takes all 11 players on the field working together, and understanding how to effectively move the ball as a team.

Decision Making – soccer players are unable to excel if they make poor decisions, be it shooting, defending, or making runs off the ball. One of the main strengths of Braddock’s coaching philosophy is the unique ability of our coaches to see and dissect the game to help each player in every position see and dissect the game for himself. Our coaches help the player see and understand the positives and consequences of his decisions in every situation. This important method of teaching good decision making helps each player develop into what every high level soccer organization (high school and beyond) expects – a creative, thinking player who can handle any situation.

Field Vision and Game Awareness – one word: Space. Space is vital to the game of soccer. Our coaches understand the concept of space. How to spread space and attack the opponent’s defense and how to contract and squeeze space when defending to stifle the opposition’s attack. Braddock’s players learn how to read space and attack or squeeze based on the situation, thus enabling them to become better thinking players and better able to play the ball into dangerous spaces on attack.

Positional Knowledge – Braddock develops players who understand how to play their positions. Strikers learn how, why, and when to make runs, defenders learn how to contain and slow the attack, when to take the ball, and how to organize themselves to defend as a group. Midfielders learn how to collect and distribute the ball to start an attack, or maintain possession.

Individual Skill and Technique – Braddock is a highly competitive club, and while we expect potential players to meet certain levels of technical proficiency, our coaches pay close attention to areas of individual skill and technique that require improvement to help the player excel. Each player is different in their abilities and levels of skill. As a result, each player receives individual attention and focus to help develop and improve their skills.
